Introduction to Hotkeys

Hotkeys allow you to perform an action ingame with the keyboard that may otherwise require use of the mouse, allowing for more efficient play. Saving seconds here and there might not matter to a beginner but, if used, hotkeys can provide players with the much needed advantage of speed and accuracy on the battlefield.

Various hotkeys also offer powerful and specific tools to have your units follow your command with less effort.

For instance, you can start to save time right at the beginning of a battle. When your first barracks is ready to place and you hear EVA announce "construction complete", instead of manually clicking the icon on the sidebar you can simply press the Structures Tab (Default: Q) button which will bring up the structure for placement instantly. Now imagine the time saved across an entire match. Rather than going over to the sidebar with your mouse, taking your attention away from unit control just to place a structure, you can simply use the sidebar tab hotkeys to instantly place down finished buildings. That can make a big difference in a competitive match!

If you wish to alter the keyboard layout of these hotkeys go to Settings -> Game -> Configure Keys in the client menu to reorganise them in whatever way is most comfortable.

Camera Controls

  • RMB (Right mouse button) - While held it enables "joystick" style camera controls, faster and more responsive than screen edge or arrow button scrolling.

  • Jump Home - Default: H - Jumps the camera to your base, centring on your primary Construction Yard.

  • Go to Event - Default: spacebar - jumpets camera to the last EVA event on the map (such as 'under attack' or 'unit lost').

  • Create Bookmark - Default: Ctrl + (F1-F4) - Remembers the current camera position and saves it at chosen Function key.

  • Jump to Bookmark - Default: (F1-F4) - Jumps the camera to the position saved at the chosen Function key.

  • Follow Selection - Default: F - Causes the camera to follow the selected object until it is deselected.

  • Centre on Selection - Default: NumPad5 - Jumps the camera to the selected object.

Unit Controls

  • Deploy - Default: D - Orders selected units to deploy in their current position.

  • Force Fire - Ctrl + LMB (Left mouse button) - Forces selected units to fire at the target position or object. Allows you to attack friendly units, suspected spies or disguised mirage tanks, etc.

  • Force Move - Alt + LMB - Forces selected units to try to move to that position, regardless of what is there. When targeting an enemy the attack cursor will change to a movement cursor, allowing you to easily crush infantry with tanks by clicking on them.

  • Attack Move - Ctrl + Shift + LMB - Orders selected units to move to the target destination and stop to engage enemies along on the way.

  • Guard Area - Default: G - Orders selected units to enter "guard mode", making them automatically move out of their position to attack nearby enemies.

  • Guard Move - Ctrl + Alt + LMB - Orders the selected to unit guard the target position or object. For example you can force repair units to follow and repair a specific vehicle, assign bodyguards to an ore miner or send units to a remote location and guard the area when they arrive. Furthermore, if you want units to group close to one another to apply a support power, select them and make them guard a unit in the center of the group. Be careful however, as this is primarily a guard command, so if there are enemies nearby your units will move to engage them.

  • Scatter - Default: X - Orders selected units to disperse, useful for splitting up infantry so they do not get crushed by vehicles or reduce the impact from AOE weapons.

  • Stop - Default: S - Orders selected units stop whatever they're doing.

  • Waypoint Mode - Default: Z - Hold to enter waypoint mode and issue consecutive orders to selected units. Units will not attempt to follow these orders until the hotkey is released, allowing you to synchronise attacks. You can also sequence orders via the minimap, being very useful early on for initial scouting so you do not need to move the camera at all to start scouting the map. Waypoints can be combined with force fire, force move, attack move and guard move.

Control Groups

Control Groups are unit selections saved and recalled through hotkeys. This is useful for having a key units in your army immediately selectable without having to manually do it, for example to call in your aircraft without jumping back to base first.
