Apocalypse Redux Announcement, There is life yet...

Heh, haven't used this news forum in two years apparently but now I'm here to announce a revival of the old Apocalypse mod. There have been a few topics already setup regarding the mod, but I haven't properly announced it (plus I also have a few units to show). Ok, big update ahoy!

Introduction




Apocalypse Redux is the revival of Apocalypse, a mod for YR 1.001 that recreates the three factions of the vanilla game. So far this mod does not use any unoffical patch like NPatch or RockPatch to make it easier to use and less prone to unidentifiable errors. The mod replaces a lot of units, more recreating the factions than just adding additional units, giving each faction a different personality.


GREAT BRITAIN - FRANCE - GERMANY - GREECE


"The Allies" are a group of nations joined by military alliance to protect Europe against the increasingly violent Communist Confederation. The initial intent of the Allies was to form an opposing power deterring the Confederation from starting a war, but since that obviously didnt work the alliance now serves as a symbol of hope, freedom and democracy.

The Allies of Europe centre heavily around naval and aerial warfare. Their land based units are very limited but their navy and airforce is second to none. The new hero infantry, the Rocketeer Captain, is an example of air domination, using a sniper rifle and flare gun to call in airstrikes on targets while flying unobstructed through the skies. Other units include the powerful Skywing Gunship, showering the enemy with death from above and the Cruiser Annihilator - the most powerful battleship ever constructed.


USSR - CHINA - REPUBLIC OF CUBA - YUGOSLAVIA


The Communist Confederation is a conglomerate of communist nations from around the world. Together they form possibly the most powerful alliance ever created. Their military personel is in the millions their geographical land expanse immense. Although the alliance is designed to treat all participating nations equally, they all look to the USSR as figurehead. The USSR supplies most military hardware to the Confederation.

The Confederation centres it's military funding entirely on ground forces, and therefore they do not have much of a navy or airforce to speak of. Their special weapons include units such as the Reaper, a mortar wielding mechanical walker and the incredibly destructive Doomsday Cannon. Russia's indestructible cybernetic soldier, Volkov, makes a return.


BRAINDEAD - CITADEL


Yuri's mysterious force remains, even after the world thinks them destroyed. Because of their small numbers to begin with and losses during the war they have begun massively recruiting mercenaries and mercenary units. Their forces now consist of devastating and chaotic weaponry, often prototype and self destructive. They are now divided into the Braindead "cult" and the Citadel, Yuri's fortress HQ.

Weapons in Yuri's arsenal include the Scattershell artillery raining nuclear death over the battlefield; the Desecration Engine, a powerful heavy tank dealing more damage in death than in life; and the Mastermind, now redesigned to cause more chaos than ever.

The Update


Now I have 4 new units to show you all, so listen up.

First is the Yuri Waste Miner. The Waste Miner protects itself from harm by pouring toxic waste around itself when attacked. The produced radiation is most effective against infantry but can also damage light vehicles (especially if theyre chasing the Miner, which keeps producing waste). It has medium ore capacity and is fairly fast.

Below is the Allied MBT, the Black Panther. This tank is one of the few ground units the Allies field. It is well armoured but lightly armed, with only the standard 105mm weapon from the previous Allied MBT however it's real specialty is the ability to evade radar detection.

Next is the Allied Rocketeer Captain (Hero infantry). The brave men who make up the Captains are veteran Rocketeers, plucked out of the ranks and given a new set of weapons. First they use a sniper rifle for picking off enemy infantry and light vehicles. Secondly they are given the authority to call in an airstrike on any target structure. Like Rocketeers they are still vulnerable to anti-aircraft fire.

Finally here's the Confederation Buffalo. The Buffalo is a well armoured infantry transport capable of carrying up to 3 regular infantry, or 1 Terror Drone. While it cannot fire at ground units it does have a very powerful anti-air cannon and, if surrounded by infantry, can drive straight through them. It's armour allows it to take some beating.

Apocalypse 1.50 RELEASE, With trailer for newcomers!

Woohoo! Finally I think it's ready for a release and to be honest I am proud of how this turned out, ignoring some outstanding changes that didn't make this release. I know I said I'd release Classic with this but that will come with the next version which isn't too far away, one which will be totally perfect in my mind, maybe including some taster campaign missions too! So for now you will have to settle with this, Apocalypse 1.50 which includes many changes to existing units, creation of some new units, tech tree adjustments, new sounds, new animations, new weapons and new balance ready for the more sci-fi hold taking place.

This mod requires NPatch SE 20 installed to work correctly, so download and install that too!

NOTE. If your getting the "Missing JPEG62.dll" message when you try and run the launcher then download this dll below and place it in your "WINDOWS" folder usually located on the C drive. This will not ruin your computer or anything like that.

Judgement Day is here!, Apocalypse 1.40 released.

Well, it's certainly been the longest year and a month of my life and it's been that exact time since the last, and first, major release. Now, with C&C Apocalypse 1.40 right in your mouths and faces, you can play all over again!

This version is practically a total and utter recreation, with barely anything from the last version included. All sides now have many improved units and some cool new ones adding to gameplay. There are several new gamemodes including the Epic Survival mode I promised with plenty of reinforcement superwepaons for use.

To play, you need to install RockPatch 1.10 which is included in the mod launcher in the "RockPatch" section.

However, there are some points I would like to mention, and they are;
- The AI isn't all that great as of yet, and it isn't helped by the following thing...
- Due to the mod using RP 1.10 (Required for many features) the Guard function is not working, meaning the AI is screwed over and Dogs/Brutes etc don't work well at all.
- Some of the new maps might have modified changes them, messing with Apocalypse. If so report it in the setup 1.40 bug thread.

If you find any problems, post them in that topic and I will endevour to fix them as soon as possible.

EDIT: If you can't open the file and it says it needs jpeg62.dll then download the following and place it in your *:\WINDOWS folder (* is usually the C drive).

YRA 1.01, *Apocalypse Update*

Already there is an update for Apocalypse available here which is version 1.01. This fixes all the bugs described here and a few extras so there shouldnt be much left now to fix. smile.gif

YR Apocalypse 1.0, The Day Of Apocalypse Has Arrived....

Commander, the day of apocalypse is here and although were only entering it i have already seen the final act. tongue.gif Anyway, version 1.0 of Apocalypse has been released! Download Now!! Also, mod requires Rocpatch 1.07B, so download. Now parents pissed off so peace out... tongue.gif rolleyes.gif

Also forgot this mod supports the Assault Map Packs (Both 1 and 2), you need to get them from http://assault.cannis.net/ to use the Assault game modes...
